Project Description

Ingredients:

For the dough:
1 1/4 cup Flour
1 tbsp Sugar
1/4 tsp Salt
8 tbsp Butter, cold and cubed
1 tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar
1/4 cup Water
1 Egg, whisked
1 tbsp Turbinado Sugar

For the filling:
1/3 cup Sugar
1/8 tsp Cinnamon
2 tsp Lemon Juice
4-5 Apples, peeled and sliced
1 tbsp Butter

For the Caramel:
1/2 cup Sugar
1 tbsp Butter
1/2 cup Heavy Cream

Instructions:
For the dough, combine the flour, sugar, and salt in a medium bowl. Add the butter and work into the dough until the pieces are pea-sized. Add the apple cider vinegar and incorporate. Add the water and mix to form a dough. Cover with plastic wrap and chill in the fridge for 30 minutes.

Preheat oven to 425 degrees. In a medium saucepan on medium heat, combine the sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, and apples. Cook until the apples are tender. Add the butter and mix then take off the heat.

Roll out the dough into a large square. Add the apples to the center and fold the ends of the dough up over the apples, leaving most of the apples showing. Brush the egg all over the dough and sprinkle the sugar as well. Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown.

For the caramel, combine the sugar and butter in a small saucepan and bring to a boil. Add the heavy cream and take off the heat. Stir until combined. Drizzle over the galette. Enjoy!
