Ingredients:
Half a Lemon, juiced
5 Apples, peeled and sliced thin
2/3 cup Sugar
4 tbsp Butter
1 tsp Cinnamon
1/4 tsp Allspice
1/8 tsp Nutmeg
1 Pie Crust, previously made
For the streusel:
1 cup Flour
1/4 tsp Salt
1/2 cup Brown Sugar
6 tbsp Butter
Instructions:
In a large bowl combine the lemon juice, apples, and sugar. Stir to combine. Set aside. In a large pot on medium heat, melt the butter and add the apples. Cook until the sugar is dissolved then cover and reduce the heat to medium-low and cook for an additional 8 minutes.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In a small bowl add the flour, salt, brown sugar, and butter. Mix with your hands until a streusel forms. Set aside.
Strain the apples and place the liquid back into the pot. Cook on medium heat until lightly caramelized, about 8 minutes. Place the apples in a large bowl and pour the caramel on top. Add the cinnamon, allspice, and nutmeg. Mix until incorporated.
Roll the pie crust out and place in a prepared baking dish. Pour the apples in. Sprinkle the streusel on top, evenly. Bake for 45 minutes or until golden brown on top. Let cool. Enjoy!
